KDS Dancers Receive Honors and Awards!

KDS Attends Camps and Activities!

This summer dancers from KDS got involved in lots of camps and activities.

4 dancers from KDS attended the Dance Olympus workshop in Kansas City, Mo. This convention featured the Platinum tour of professional with classes in Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Hip Hop, and Musical Theater. There was also an opportunity to audition for a scholarship to the next winter convention and master classes. Carly S. from KDS was a scholarship winner, Congrats Carly.

Dance Olympus also held a convention in Omaha with their Diamond tour of professionals. Again dancers had a variety of classes and an opportunity to audition for a scholarship.

Dancers Attend NDA Camp

Seven dancers from Kerri’s Dance Studios “Attitude” Dancers competition team recently attended the National Dance Alliance Dance Camp at Nebraska Wesleyan University. The 4 day camp is not only designed for learning new material but dancers are evaluated throughout the camp on dance skills, leadership skills, and overall growth and improvement. Dancers competed with a Home Routine (each school brought a performance of their best work for critique. The team routine (a dance taught to them by the staff). Dancers had only 3 days to learn and perfect the routine before competing.

Dancers learned 2 other dances in which they were critiqued individually. Team leaders from each school also competed separately in the areas of leadership and unison.

The KDS dancers received to following awards…

The Gold Award for the Team routine – (equivalent to 1^st place)

The Technical Excellence Award for their Home Routine

The Overall Camp Technical Excellence Award.

3rd Place in the Team leader Run-off.

The Spirit Award (voted by other schools as the most admired team.)

All 7 of the participating dancer from KDS were nominated as All-Americans

2 Members were selected to the All-American Team – Claire & Cassie

KDS Dancers participating were – Jaymie, Megan, Frankie, Rachel, Caroline, Claire, & Cassie.

Congratulations Rachel and Carly!

Rachel G. was selected to be a Dance Olympus VIP. Dance Olympus conventions and competitions host auditions in 9 cities across the United States for VIPS. Those dancers selected then have the opportunity to tour the following summer with Dance Olympus as staff assistants. They get to take classes with over 15 different professional dancers and choreographers, perform right along side them in the faculty shows, and meet dancers from across the nation. Over 1400 dancers auditioned throughout the United Sates. Dance Olympus selected app. 50 and Rachel was one of them!! She will be touring to Orlando, Houston, Vegas, New York and more!!

Another “fill in” audition will be held in Omaha on November 7^th. You must attend the Dance Olympus Winter Workshop to be eligible to audition. If you are interested let Kerri know or watch the studio newsletters for workshop information. We are proud of you Rachel!!!

Way To Dance Carly!

Carly earns a dance scholarship at Dance Olympus. She was one of the top four dancers chosen out of 150 to receive free attendance at all future Dance Olympus workshops. Tamara Squires gives her a hug after earning this tremendous honor.
