Course Offerings and Descriptions
Ballet Available to student ages 6 and up due to more difficult terminology.
KDS studio follows the Cechetti School of ballet, which is a romantic and elegant style. Students may continue with classical
ballet by choosing to take a Pointe (on the toes) class at age 12 and after 3 years ballet experience. At the Jr. High and
High School level the lyrical
style of ballet will be integrated into classes. This style focuses more on communicating the lyrics of the music through
the movements.
Poms This is a fun energetic style of dance available to students ages 7 and
up. Poms are a mix of cheerleading and high school drill team styles. It focuses on sharp clean movements set to contemporary
music. Perfect for the girl looking to audition for her school team.
Tap Available to dancers of all ages. Tap is a rhythmic and
music oriented style of dance where the details of the execution of steps are well worked. Tap shoes are a requirement for
this class.
Jazz Available to dancers of all ages although the style of the dance may shift
with age. KDS jazz classes include musical theater, hip-hop, and funk as well as classical jazz dance. Most often set to contemporary
music and a great starter class for a new student. Student ages 3 - 6 taking jazz will be introduced to all creative movements
and many ballet elements.
Hip Hop This is a more street style of dance
focusing on the latest funk moves and bass beats in music. Give it a try.
Tumbling This class is available to students ages 6 and up as a solo class. For
dancers 3-5 it is integrated into their regular dance classes. Tumbling concentrates on flexibility, strength, and control.
This class has no recital requirements. Different from gymnastics, tumbling focuses on floor work and acrobats.
